hey @Ionwhite getting suspended 11 times in 24 hours is quite impressive. Welcome to votable, no censorship here, unless its self censorship.

That is impressive. I'm here to inform, educate & offend.

indeed, spam is not too bad right now but increasing. Will likely add captcha's or further validation soon.

yep @LibertyLioness looks like it pushed out the comment area from the long link without spaces. Will look into fixing this @keithaBrownell should be a pretty easy solution, thanks for pointing it out.

Welcome, thanks for always being so accessible,

if left blank the post goes to your profile only. Considering changing something here in the future but not sure what seems to a bit confusing.

4
Jseek [V] 4 weeks ago

yes totally, privacy should be in the hands of the individual, would be a good idea to add a setting for this at some point.

1
teamamerica17 4 weeks ago

A public blogging option would also attract people to the site, and people could link their blog articles to relevant groups to draw people in. Minds has something like this, but I don't know how well it works. It could be a differentiator.

hey @josanau welcome to the votable family happy to have you here

if you select the blog type from inside the community you are posting to it will automatically know you are posting there. otherwise from the homepage it request a community to understand where to post the content kind of like selecting a subreddit when posting to reddit.

@Jseek - if we leave the option to post to a community blank - where does it post to? "who" sees it. The entire community or only visitors to our profile?

Yes. Now since blog posts are conventionally public (as opposed to, say, FB posts which have configurable visibility) the question is will votable eventually support that behavior?

sure i can change it for you, whats the community name and which URL would you like it changed it?

4
teamamerica17 1 month ago

My question for this topic was can blog posts be public (like a normal blog) or must they go to a group? For example, I created a self-defense group. I might want to blog about it publicly to draw attention (and readers) to my group. However, when I went to write a test blog post, I was required to select a group for the post to go to.

Thanks

@teamamerica 17 - when you have a question about the site include (@jseek) in your comment and you will get a quick response , hope this helps.

1
teamamerica17 1 month ago

Okay. Did I errantly assume that this group was for asking questions about the site?

4
keithaBrownell 1 month ago

If anyone who happened to read your question had known the answer we would have chimed in but for the technical questions @Jseek is your go to. He (she) can't possibly read every post but if you add the @Jseek you will get an answer from the most qualified person and in my experience super fast.

What I have found @teamamerica17 is that when it asks you to post it to a specific community...you do have the option to leave it blank, then it posts simply by your name. You can leave the community part blank. NOW, what I do not know is where it goes and if only the people who follow you or go to your specific "page" see it? It was something I also wondered, @Jseek - who sees a blog post when it's posted but you don't choose a specific community?

1
keithaBrownell 1 month ago

ewww! I want to know that too, thanks Kweenie.

4
Kween 1 month ago

aww shucks - you do know only my friends call me Kweenie right? That is sooo funny, that's what friends and family call me irl. Hubby laughs because in Dutch it means "I don't know". Kween Kleokatra is actually a fictional character I write about and use in virtual world.

And yes, I am glad you are my friend @keithaBrownell - black pot and all.

teamamerica17 * 1 month ago

For a normal post, I'm given the option to leave the group field blank. The post just goes on your "page" (akin to your Facebook page) and it's visible to the internet if your profile is public or only followers (I think) if your profile is private.

For a blog post, which is usually something the internet can see, I'm not given that option.

Well @teamamerica17 ...I just loged out to see what happened when I did a search of simply Kween and then Kween votable - seems everything comes up anyway...I do mean everything..LOL oops!

5
teamamerica17 1 month ago

Everything that is posted in a public group, yes. That's a different situation, but people do need to understand the visibility level of their posts
